Research Question

        Are
monthly training and education sessions efficient in reducing workplace safety
concerns of healthcare employees such as physicians, nurses, certified nurse assistants, social workers,
LPN’s, and laboratory technicians ?.

Purpose Statement

      The purpose of this study is to determine
if monthly training and/or education sessions are efficient in reducing
workplace safety concerns of healthcare employees such
as physicians, nurses,
certified nurse assistants, social workers, LPN’s, and laboratory technicians
between the ages of 30 and 60.

PICO Question:

P (Patient/Population):

The population involved in the clinical problem are health
care employees such as physicians, nurses, certified nurse assistants, social workers, LPN’s, laboratory
technicians between the ages of 30 and 60 that work in multi-disciplinary
teams and with patients.

 

I (Intervention):

Specific measures such as educating healthcare employees
on safety precautions in the workplace, educating and practicing proper
bending and lifting techniques, reducing slippery floors and adequate use of
signs to notify employees of hazards, clearing clutter and dangerous objects
in the work area, safe patient handling techniques by using lifts to transfer
overweight patients, hazard identification and prevention. An injury and
illness prevention program is a proactive, collaborative process to find and
fix workplace hazards before employees are injured or become ill.

 

C (Comparison):

Monthly assessment of injury rates and evaluation of
safety programs by performance improvement.

 

O (Outcome):

Decrease in the number of healthcare employee injuries,
illness and time off work .
