Over a period of a decade, we have seen an advancement in the field of science and technology like never . As said Stephen Hawking, we are all now connected by the Internet, like neurons in a giant brain. The social media has both, positive and negative impact on a person’s life, let’s try to separately look at the positive and negative aspects of the Internet that affect modern society. A huge benefit of the social media in today’s society that it give us opportunity to lead an active lifestyle and be always aware of news that occur anywhere in the world. For instance, social networks give us chance to share our thoughts and information with other people around the world. And probably it should be noted that the positive side is also the opportunity to declare your gift and sell your exclusive work, which is available only to Internet users, and now there are about million visits a day from a variety of search engines. It must be said that there are always people of interest who will be interested in your work, your statements, your personality. (Evan Asano Jan. 4, 2017) The negative impact of the Internet is already reflected in thousands of people. The biggest problem of our society is addiction. To date, access to social networks is almost 97% of the population of our planet. Scientists have calculated that the minimum time a user is in a social network is 6 hours, while he visits his account at least twice a day. 69% of teens regularly receive personal messages online from people they do not know and most of them do not tell a trusted adult about it. Firstly, the impact of the Internet on the child can lead to serious problems. In the process of development, a teenager may not correctly perceive real life, mixing it with the virtual world. Secondly, social media can damage personal relationships to minority necessary and it also decreases productivity. For instance, when children play very much in games or are simply dependent on the Internet, they cease to pay attention to the world around them, and also family members stop communicating, and children become very aggressive. Also, teenagers are at great risk of becoming a victim of cyberbullying by doing something on the Internet or on the phone, being humiliated, threatened. In conclusion, I want to say that social media and communication technologies slowly destroy our life ! Social networks can bring many benefits. But the abuse of public networks can lead to dependence, loss of attention, waste of time and stupefaction. Social networks are both good and bad. It is in our power to take from them only the good and weed out the bad. If we will not control the time that we spend everyday on social media, it will be harmful for ourselves!
